Route Description
The Blejska koča Hut is located on the beautiful Lipanci Alpine Pasture, which lies on the slope of the Lipanski vrh Summit above the Pokljuka Plateau. You can recognize the Pokljuka Plateau by its magical spruce forest and a visit to the Blejska koča Hut is indeed a terrific idea for a family trip. The hut is open all year round.
Turn off the Gorenjska motorway at the exit for Bled and follow the signs towards Pokljuka. When you reach the first crossroads on Pokljuka, the macadam road to the Bledska koča Hut branches off to the right. Leave the car in the marked parking lot and head towards the top wearing appropriate footwear. The trail is well marked, safe and suitable for younger hikers.
It is definitely worth the effort, as the hut offers beautiful views. To the south, the peaks of the Lower Bohinj Mountains rise behind the forests of Pokljuka and Jelovica. To the southeast, the vast Upper Carniola statistical region expands beyond the Pokljuka plateau, and the peaks of the beautiful Kamnik Alps rise behind the plain. If you look to the west, the view opens to the nearby slopes of the Lipanski vrh Summit, the Debeli vrh Summit and the Razor Mountain. To the north, the slopes of the Debela peč Mountain rise, and to the right over the forests you can see the Karavanke Ridge and the Stol Mountain.

If you decide to visit the Blejska koča Hut in winter, check the trail conditions first. If it happens to be snowy, pack a sleigh and enjoy a merry ride back to the starting point. Even on beautiful summer days, Pokljuka can surprise us with lower temperatures, so remember to bring extra clothing for your children.
