Opis poti

Ajdna nad Potoki je lep izlet nad dolino Završnice, mi pa smo se na pot odpravili iz Valvazorjeve koče pod Stolom, ki je odlično izhodišče za raziskovanje tega območja. Pot nas vodi skozi prijeten gozd in nas postopoma pripelje na razgledni vrh, kjer se odpre čudovit pogled na okoliške vrhove Karavank in dolino pod nami. Če boste za izhodišče vzeli Valvazorjevo kočo, boste do tja hodili ves čas malo navdol.

Ajdna ni le razgledna točka, temveč tudi pomembno arheološko najdišče. Na vrhu so odkrili ostanke poznoantične naselbine iz 5. in 6. stoletja, kamor so se domačini umaknili pred vpadi ljudstev v času propadanja Rimskega cesarstva. Arheologi so tu našli temelje hiš, ostanke obzidja, cisterno za vodo ter zgodnjekrščansko cerkev, kar kaže na organizirano in stalno poselitev.

Danes je območje lepo urejeno in opremljeno z informacijskimi tablami, ki obiskovalcem približajo življenje v tistem času. Izlet na Ajdno je zato odlična izbira za vse, ki obiščejo Žirovnico – združuje prijetno hojo, bogato zgodovino in čudovite razglede, ki navdušijo tako pohodnike kot ljubitelje kulturne dediščine.
