Route Description
Exit the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway at the Radovljica exit (from the Jesenice - Ljubljana direction, the Lesce exit) and follow the road towards the town of Begunje. In Begunje (just behind the crossroads, where the road branches off to the left towards the town of Žirovnica), turn left towards the Krpin Recreation Center (straight ahead in the direction of Draga and Tržič). Park in a large parking lot next to the Krpin Recreation Center. The trail that starts here has a playground that stretches all the way to the top – a perfect motivation for the kids!
Alternatively, you can leave your car in the car park opposite the Pri Joževcu Inn. Turn left at the Begunje Hospital and follow the path across the Plečnik Park and the Chapel. We started from here, as the sun was shining all the way and we were warm even though it was January. We circled and descended from the hill near Krpin Recreation Center, where there is also a children's playground. At the top of St. Peter’s Hill is a paraglider take-off point, which has a beautiful view of the towns of Bled and Radovljica, the Triglav Mountain and the surrounding hills.

Visit the nearby Avsenik Museum and Kamen Castle.
The renovated Avsenik Museum presents a collection of the Vilko and Slavko Avsenik’s active music-making period. Music and videos on touch screens take you back to the golden age of Avsenik. A new feature in the museum are the interactive points where you can spin a track and watch a video recording from various periods of the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble. On the upper floor, there is an exhibition of the Avsenik family history and an apartment with furnishings from the Avsenik homestead. The museum is located in the brothers' birth house. Exhibits include original instruments belonging to the musicians and clothing that Slavko Avsenik wore on concert stages and on the front covers of albums. There are also numerous recognitions and awards that the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble have received for their services in the field of music and the promotion of Slovenia, as well as gold, platinum and diamond discs for the number of records sold.
The ruins of the Kamen Castle are an attraction for every history enthusiast. The Kamen Castle (German: Stain) used to stand on a narrow ridge that closes the Draga valley near the village of Begunje in the Upper Carniola region. The mighty building was an important outpost, as it protected the old merchant route from the town of Bohinj and the Upper Sava Valley across Prevala towards the town of Tržič and the Podljubelj Hospice to the Carinthia statistical region.
