Interesting Facts
The Iglica Waterfall, a 24-metre-high (78-feet-high) waterfall, is hidden in the cliffs of Iglica, right above the village of Bohinjska Bela. Its spring is the Suha Stream and it falls over the vertical Permian Neoschwagerina limestone wall. The waterfall is set at the end of a natural stone hall and meanders on the wall to the pool that has been expanded with a dam to make a small artificial lake. After finishing the Grumble Trail, do visit this spot, which is located just under half a kilometer from your starting point.
The town of Bled is located in the vicinity and is not famous merely for its delicious “kremšnite”, but for its local legend.
LEGEND OF THE SUNKEN BELL
Once upon a time there lived a young widow in the castle of Bled. Her husband was killed by robbers and his body was thrown into the lake. She was so inconsolable that she gathered all her gold and silver and cast a bell for the chapel on the island, in memory to her husband. But the bell didn’t arrive there. The bell, the boat and boatmen sank during a terrible storm. The desperate widow sold all her property after this accident. She offered the proceeds for the construction of a new church on the island. She left Bled and lived the rest of her life in Rome as a nun. After her death the Pope had heard of her misfortune and of her good deeds during her life as a nun, so in memory to her he decide to make a new bell. He said that anyone that rings the bell three times and believes in God, his or her wish would come true. Even today sometimes, on a dark night you can hear the sunken bell ringing from the depths of the lake.

THE STORY OF GRUMBLE BEAR
Bear paw prints have been discovered on the Pokljuka Plateau! Hunters from nearby villages, including the Bohinjska Bela Village, gathered to hunt down the beast. However, they could not find the sly animal and as soon as they left, Grumble Bear walked straight into Bohinjska Bela. He probably came from the direction of Sava River Gorge where he drank water and then decided to enter the village.
Where did Grumble Bear go on from Podroje? Did he return to the Sava River? Or did he go further on, perhaps even right into another story? Who knows? Bohinjska Bela never saw him again …
That's how the Story about Grumble Bear goes ...
