TUJCI O SLOVENIJI-INTERVJU s Samuelom Kochom
1. Were you in Slovenia only for visiting or did you live here? For how long?
I came to Slovenia in March 2019 for the first time in my life. I came for a Traineeship at an Agency of the European Union seated in Ljubljana. In total my stay in Slovenia was exactly one year. I experienced the country from the beginning not as a tourist, but as a resident.
2. What was your first impression about Slovenia?
My first impression was a rainy ride in the dark from the Karavanke tunnel to the house of my host family. In the first days I was a bit helpless in the new environment, however my host family helped me to integrate very fast into Slovene culture and habits. I realized that I am in a wonderful and friendly country that has despite its small size very much to offer with regard to landscape, culture, standard of living, and people.
3. Where did you go for trips?
Everywhere. In the whole country. The focus during that year was mainly on the coast and in the Alps.
4. Which place did you find most fascinating and you would recommend to your friends?
My personal favourite place when I come to Slovenia now is the church Sveti Jakob in the Medvode municipality close to Ljubljana. The church stands alone on a hill with a very beautiful view.
5. Where did you get information about your trips?
Host family, colleagues at work, internet (hribi.net), travel guide.
6. What is the main difference in tourism between your country and Slovenia?
Actually I struggle answer this question, because I have not really experienced neither Germany nor Slovenia as a tourist. I see both countries from the perspective of a resident living there.
7. List three of your favourite trips please!
Three of my favourite trips in this year were:
a) Hiking on Velika Baba in Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe
b) Biking along the coast
c) Market for wooden products (suha roba) on 1st September in Ribnica
